After the heartbreaking loss of my son, I felt compelled to take action against the silent epidemic of childhood trauma. My team and I formed a grassroots advocacy movement aimed at declaring a State of Emergency on Childhood Trauma. We worked tirelessly, meeting with community leaders, mobilizing residents, and providing compelling data on the enduring effects of adverse childhood experiences. Our efforts culminated in a significant achievement when we successfully urged the Cincinnati City Council to pass legislation designating June as Childhood Trauma Awareness Month. This victory not only honors my son's memory but also marks a pivotal moment in recognizing the urgent need to address childhood trauma.
